Recorders – Created by J.G.Saunders in Melbourne Australia.
Joanne Saunders was educated at Preshil School where her love of the recorder and woodwork were able to combine. Later, after completing Oboe studies at the Victorian College of the Arts Joanne persuaded renowned recorder maker Fred Morgan to train her.
Joanne completed a four year training and set up her own workshop first in Daylesford and after working in Europe for three years is now in Melbourne.
Joanne specializes in making Baroque Recorders after J.Steenbergen (Amsterdam 18th C). Each instrument is individually hand crafted and many hours spent ‘playing in’ and adjusting the voicing to produce a unique tonal characteristic.
All instruments are made from selected Honduras Rosewood, European Boxwood, North American Rock Maple and Australian native Mulga woods. Joanne’s workshop is currently at the Abbotsford Convent where these beautiful instruments are made.
