Pip Davey
Working predominately within the natural world, Pip Davey’s oil paintings transform reality into immersive sensual studies of ambiguity, illusion and wonder. Often referred to as “hyper – real,” her work is characterized by a strong sense of colour, compositon and play of light.
In recent years Pip has also been exploring the relationship between realism and abstraction, where again color and composition dominate. An enticing texture is created by the incorporation of materials such as gold leaf, beeswax and mica.
Pip's work is directly influenced by the journeys she takes. In 2008 it was Ubud, Bali and its lush tropical environs and more recently the pristine waters of both Tasmania and the Narooma inlet on the south coast of N.S.W.
Pip exhibits regulary and her work can be viewed via her studio at the Abbotsford Convent, or through Greenwood Gallery.
