Victorian Music Teachers’ Association Inc

The Victorian Music Teachers’ Association Inc. (VMTA) has existed since 1928, almost as long as some of the buildings in the beautiful Abbotsford Convent Precinct.

We are a professional association representing approximately 900 music teachers.  Schools, parents and prospective music students of all ages can find a comprehensive list of music teachers of various instruments and methods (including accompanists) on our website.

Throughout the year, the VMTA offers professional development activities for teachers and performance opportunities for students in the form of workshops, masterclasses, lectures, recitals and seminars.  We also hold a Summer Conference every two years.

We welcome calls from teachers wishing to become members or attend our events, and anyone interested in learning an instrument - it’s never too late to start!
