Donations - Small or Large

Your donation will contribute considerably toward the development of the Abbotsford Convent project.

How the funds will be used
The Abbotsford Convent buildings and grounds are being restored over a staged five-year program. The restoration is scheduled for completion in 2009. The first tenants moved in during 2005.

The Abbotsford Convent precinct has eleven main buildings that are listed as having heritage significance. The buildings differ in their materials, but the basic construction is similar, that of load bearing masonry walls, timber windows and doors, slate, terracotta tile and corrugated iron roofs with timber roof framing.

Generally, all of the buildings on the site are of sound structural condition. To determine the scope of works required on the site, a room by room analysis, as well as a heritage audit of all of the buildings, was carried out.

In a series of stages, the ACF will carry out base and generic works as part of its construction and restoration program. Base works are required to make buildings safe and weatherproof to a useable standard, in accordance with relevant building code standards. Generic works will be required in order to make buildings lettable, and will include modifications for individual tenant requirements. These works will be carried out in conjunction with tenants.
