What's New
Wellbeing tenancy now available for lease
The Abbotsford Convent Foundation is now inviting applications for a tenancy in ‘WellBeing at the Convent’ from qualified, experienced and community-minded practitioners, to complement the existing therapies available.
There will be a focus on the following criteria:
An established practice to best support the viability and strength of ‘Wellbeing at the Convent’. Priority will be given to those Expressions of Interest that can demonstrate a strong client base and an active practice.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate an interest and capacity to contribute to ‘Wellbeing at the Convent’, the Convent and the broader community, along with their own independent practice.
As a new tenant you would join fifty-plus arts, cultural and educational practitioners in the iconic Convent Building, which is filled with history and atmosphere. The available single space is approx. 10 m2 on Level 1 in the east wing (facing west).
Rental is $720.00 per month (includes GST) - this includes electricity and heating. The term of the lease is negotiable (min. 12 months) and a two month bond and key deposit is payable in advance. Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities are provided, a meeting room is available free of charge once a week, and as a tenant you can hire venues within the precinct at a discount rate. As part of an agreement made by the collective of WellBeing tenants, a one-off levy of $400 is required from each new Wellbeing tenant (used for refurbishment, maintenance, marketing and general shared costs). Ongoing levies ($100 payable twice a year, for every year of lease) go into collective funds (used for future shared costs as deemed necessary via majority vote at meeting of the WellBeing collective held every six weeks).

A Statement from the ACF Board
10 September 2010
On 9 August the Board of the ACF issued a statement on “Mapping the Future”
It outlined five areas where work was being undertaken to lay the foundation for the next five years;
• the Master Plan;
• leasing and tenancy;
• stakeholder input ;
• funding for new development; and
• governance and administration.
Working parties comprised of Board members, staff and tenants have been formed and are meeting to consider leasing policy, precinct rules, Board representation and communication. It is anticipated that the work of these working parties will be completed by the end of the year at which time an ongoing tenant/Board liaison committee will come into effect.
Draft policies and other documents prepared both by tenants as well as ACF staff and Board members are already being discussed. The Chief Operating Officer has been appointed and will assist in this process.
In light of this progress the ACF will accelerate other elements of a transition strategy to create a vision and Master Plan for the next five years and to ensure the long-term viability of the precinct.
Together with tenants and other stakeholders the Board will develop a governance model that will ensure maximum transparency, renewal and the harnessing of the skills and experience to govern the precinct in this new phase of the Convent’s development.
The Board will continue to keep stakeholders and the wider community informed through the Convent website.
