Mercator Studios

In early 2010, ten newly developed studios opened in the Mercator building at the eastern edge of the Convent precinct.
Exuding heritage charm but featuring contemporary amenities and design, they are suited to printmaking, jewellery, ceramics, furniture design etc.
Priority is given to practitioners whose work has a public interface such as classes, workshops, open access, or a gallery space. The light-filled Mercator studios range in size from 19 to 82 square metres.
Each has 24 hour access, heating, natural and fluorescent lighting, phone jack/s, and some have other facilities such as sinks and running water. Mercator studio lease terms are usually two to five years.
Please note that all Mercator studio spaces are currently committed and no vacancies are anticipated in the near future.
The Mercator redevelopment is a project made possible by the Sidney Myer Fund 2009 Commemorative Grants Program.
