Bianca Evans
Nothing in life is static and isolated, instead everything is interconnected. This understanding can be applied to the human body. Our bodies are an organic base that is constantly changing. In cases of disease, the Chinese Medicine approach pays attention to different stages of disease for the individual – not one generic treatment for everyone.
Our bodies consist of viscera, tissues, fluids and organs all contributing to and interconnecting the body as a whole. Therefore it is not uncommon for one imbalance or area of disease to then spread to another area of our body.
Chinese Medicine approaches treatment at rebalancing the various viscera, tissues, fluids and organs so that they may exercise and maintain their respective normal functions.

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture has become increasingly popular in the Western world over the past 40 years and yet is one of the oldest healing treatments in the world. It is the use of thin metallic needles that part the skin (rather than pierce to extract or inject fluids) along anatomical regions of the body that connect via channels.
What does it feel like?
Acupuncture can be described as a dull ache or “buzzing” sensation. It is not uncommon to have this feeling travel elsewhere in the body.
What can it treat?
Acupuncture may be effective in a vast number of conditions spanning from gynaecological, dermatological, cosmetic, musculoskeletal, emotional imbalances, respiratory and general wellbeing.
What is Chinese herbal medicine?
Chinese Herbal Medicine is prescribed medicinal herbs that are used in combinations to promote the rebalancing of disease and nourish organs and fluids.
How do I take it?
Herbal prescriptions may be taken either as a granulated form mixed in hot water and drank as a tea. Alternatively there are pills or capsules which are taken with a glass of warm water.
What can it treat?
Like Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine may be effective in a vast number of conditions spanning from gynaecological, dermatological, cosmetic, musculoskeletal, emotional imbalances, respiratory and general wellbeing. There is the added benefit of continuing treatment away from the clinic between visits.
Note:
Both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine may be used in conjunction with conventional medicine provided both practitioners are in consultation with one another. This therefore has the possibility of making unwanted side effects of conventional medicines easier to cope with.
