GROUND DWELLERS
ANITA FOARD

The Bodhi tree, under which Buddha attained enlightenment, has infinite ability to shelter create and inspire.
Foard is acting as detective in the natural world as a tracker, fuzzy marsupial or lyre -bird looking for and piecing together clues, nourishment or scratching up a nesting mound.
These works are created as a result of many hours contemplating, walking, observing the ground, the trees, the discarded material and the secret characters and messages waiting there.
The intricate nature of the work reflects the hidden complexities of the natural world. The ground or surface often pieced together in collage, covering the threats or joys hidden underneath.
There is devotion and meditation added to the time spent exploring this world and lovingly re-creating new characters.

Space A
SOFT STEEL / HARD DIRT
SHERIDAN JONES AND JAKOB SCHMITT
Jones and Schmitt are printmakers working respectively with linocuts and etchings. Their work contrasts the hard cold steel of industry with the soft earth of the natural world - each containing glimmers of the other while expressing the atmosphere felt when you catch the interaction of these two worlds.

Space B
PLANT EATERS
JELENA TELECKI

My work is addressing a failure, or giving up on trying to fully understand the outcomes of the confused living in-between two cultures. The outcomes of this approach are works that are stripped of my relevant cultural or identity coding, leaving visible only my incomprehension of whatever was left (never fading sense of guilt, shame, embarrassment and failed attempts to improve).

PROJECT ROOM
SIGHT LINE
DANICA CHAPPELL
Reminiscent of laying awake at night and observing street light streaming through a crack in the blinds that bounces off a mirror, onto the wall and then floor. Awake, you trace the line of light back to the source through the objects that interfere with its passage.
Utilising a solid foundation in photography, with an interest in perspective and depth perception, I am directing my practice towards abstraction. Using one beam of light projected onto an orchestrated set of materials, a static image will become visible from one converging point. A second image softly reverberates the viewer and object on photographic paper, captured within the space.

GALLERY 2
SEQUENTIAL CARTOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS
SIMON FINN
Studio research has led me to hypothesise a cartographic link between the drawn, sculptural and visualisation technologies, which I am exploring with this exhibition. The investigation will be realised via the presentation of a range of spatial and temporal sequential imagery generated through a combination of technologies and reinterpreted through the hand using a traditional drawing processes.
This exhibition is the latest investigative drawings that form part of my Masters of Fine Art by Research at the Victorian College of the Arts.

GALLERY 3
PROSPECTIVE FUTURES
NICK HALL – TRUDY MOORE – HARRY METCALF – AGNES SO
Prospective Futures gathers together four artists who spent the majority of last year within the confines of a shared institutional studio, united by their collective attempts at bridging the gap between art school and art world.
The gallery is then presented as a site which houses the residue of their experience thus far, where inherent in the work that each artist makes lies the evidence of their artistic persistance and the questioning of the value of contemporary art practice.
